Summer Awards
- The Record editorial cartoonist Jimmy Margulies has won his second consecutive Clarion Award. The award is given by the The Association for Women in Communications for media companies who represent clear, concise, communication to their audience. Jimmy will receive the award in Washington D.C., as part of the organization's September 25-27 conference
- A cartoon by Tim Jackson. of the Chicago Defender, won top prize from the National Newspaper Publishers Association for 2007.
- Mike Keefe has won first place in the Best of the West award for journalism.
- The Florida Society of Newspaper Editors recently named their picks for best editorial cartoons for 2008. In Division A (Newspapers with daily circulation of 125,000 or more) Chan Lowe of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel took first and second place, and Dana Summers of the Orlando Sentinel took third. In Division B (Newspapers with circulation between 60,000 and 125,000 daily), Jeff Parker of Florida Today took took first and second place, and Andy Marlette of Pensacola News Journal took third. And in Division C (Newspapers with circulation of less than 60,000 daily) Jake Fuller took first and second place and John Russo of The News Herald took third place.
- And finally, Ed Hall garnered the first ever Sunshine Sunday Award for Editorial Cartoons, presented by the First Amendment Foundation in Tallahassee.
